from the depths a signal of distress from me the runaway i turned my back you threw me in the deep the current swirled about me the waves swept over me the darkness deepens thrown away out of your sight but my eyes must return to your beauty as i indulged in the endless shame around me i sank to where there was no more remorse while my life was ebbing away your spirit filled my soul and my song rose to you some cling to worthless idols, fall from grace but my song rose to you

Bottoms Up 02:36
With one tip of the glass You lose all trust Built up over the years A way to bury your sorrow I have blood for my shame Memory fades over night As a picture over time Paint it black And I'll be painted red As you're reminded of what you ate last night Remember the good times Remember the bad Remember the best days we ever had Inhibitions aside As I walk away You walk with me or will you stay Darling, please, I don't want to hear you say 'Just a little bit, it'll be okay' Driving down the road Singing the old melody When along comes the unexpected Reaction slow Feet to the floor Out the window In body no more Just listen Take this bread You're not missing a thing
3.
Lazarus 03:40
Life and death No in between Narrow escapes abound Yet Lazarus walks again It's safe behind this mask of fear Death is the only thing to hide It's inevitable But Lazarus walks again Lazarus walks He cheated death again I am not afraid We're all poor just the same Some just not declared And I know because I saw Lazarus walk
4.
Escape 01:08
Run away to that place Lay down your burdens As small as they are As big as they can be Past the fence Over the hill Twisted metal Paint over rust Disguise the pain, The imperfection Take with you what matters What you think you need The toys, the joy In running Freedom, but is it necessary? You had it all Greed, selfishness Pride and deceit transformed you You had it all
5.
Oh, god of beauty With your chiseled mouth And beady painted eyes I'd give anything for you Oh god of laughter With your carved ears And arms of gold No censorship or remorse I trust you I made you In this factory of hope I love you My sweet creation Aging With your wrinkles And beady painted eyes I'd do anything for you Played out The situation Carved ears and arms of gold The jokes really do get old I need you You're taking over This factory of lust I love you My sweet creation Oh God, what have I done? With my chiseled mouth and beady painted eyes I can't speak or see a thing Oh God, hear me now With my carved ears Dead wood, colder metal I trust you I made you In this factory of apathy I love you Myself, the creation

T.V. Summer 02:31
Dad downstairs yelling at the television Mom nearby reading in a chair I'm upstairs listening to Sufjan When we all go to bed I hope that we aren't dead Wake up in the morning Go to work Do it all again Playing games in the summer I don't know where my sisters are I don't care to I don't know where I'll be tomorrow I don't need to I don't have anything to yell at Not even a television This game is over soon
7.
Work Faces 01:57
A sour taste in my mouth as I put on this suit of deceit Face ready for work: to cover the harsh reality That what you've come to know and love is a lie Crafted, shaped before your eyes I guess when the time comes for me to perform I am able, not willing My intellect precedes me A filter seeking imperfection With one mistake, reputation is lost Attention closely follows behind No matter how low I seek entertainment Coarse talk, foolish thinking Something to occupy my mind As I cure the boredom, pass the time
8.
At the end of your rope A faucet turned clockwise 'til its end Diminishing; Mutiny Is that what it's called when something stolen is taken back? You've lost what is dear to you Prepare for the embrace You are blessed Content with the ownership of that which can't be bought Craving for the hope Given enough to receive visions of purity Peace, beloved, you are blessed A cheer from good company As the truth collects attacks from the insecure You are blessed The end of your rope A faucet turned clockwise 'til its end You are blessed In your pain And your righteousness
9.
Have It All 01:47
As your blood falls from my hands You restore and proclaim Louder than words I have but few years to lift up my name All to die Or lift up the name of which I am not worthy You lost life itself that we might have a second chance Struggling with generosity When existence is a gift we can't return But have it all All of me Bowed down For you are holy
10.
The walls are weeping From the brokenness My eyes are searching Simple ignorance Driven by passion Rooted deep in the dark Unsure of vision What is in my heart Eternity is well on its way No looking back Horizon stretched deeper each day Confusion, illusion Misleading, conceited Attacking my weakness He knows when to strike Burying pain with each sin that I like But You came And You reign I want to be with you Forever is a long time to be lost I would be lost without you I surrender
11.
Hold On 04:22
veer off on a cross road with doubt silence, the critic that drives pushing but with no big result is it even worth my time? won't i sometimes fall but still i decide to hold on veer off on a cross road with hope i'm shifting my perspective now it's not turning out how i want but you keep me driving on you pick me up and i fall you pick me up once again

about

Entitled "Progress"; in regards to the songs in my head translated into CD form that could be enjoyed by all. I gave myself a deadline (2 weeks if I remember correctly) and jumped in. It gave me experience recording and produced such hit as "Eternal Surrender."

Burnt to CD-Rs and hand labeled with unique Sharpie message, it was first distributed at Thrive student ministries.

It made such an impact on so many peoples' lives that I cannot even remember song titles #2 or #4. (important edit(ok, maybe not so important(unnecessary parenthesis)(sigur ros's () is a great album btw)): I remembered song #2's name)
